Privacy Online
Privately stored data that can be linked to individuals should be treated as 'personal data' and given stronger protection than in current UK law.
Agree or Disagree?
UK data protection law offers a narrower definition of personal information than is available across the EU. Personal information should be redefined as information that can be linked to an individual, which would include browsing habits, IP addresses as well as more typical data like names and addresses. Using the EU definition would mean individuals would gain more rights and control over information help on them.
